“Raving Radicals” is Out! Reflections on publishing my first novel

Esteemed 21st Century Proletarian Literature followers and passersby,

As you may have already noticed from recent updates to my website, the 21st century proletarian novel Raving Radicals Bathed in Blax is now on sale.

The publication of Raving Radicals represents the culmination of a long and arduous process.

I began writing  Raving Radicals over three years ago, in the summer of 2013. Many significant changes took place in my life since then. I left my precarious job as a low-income airport worker and took what I could say is perhaps a more culturally productive job halfway around the world, encountering many interesting strangers here, some of whom have even become my family members. Although the nature of employment in the Second World has lowered my income in real terms, it has allowed me to leave behind the cesspool of ultra-reactionary settler descendants which is the USA, which I am thankful for. Even though much of my family is indigenous to the Americas, I think avant-garde decolonizers should seriously consider voluntarily evacuating the occupied lands of North America. It is a patronizing self-entitlement settler mindset of the white Leftist which says that it is somehow more courageous to continue to reap the benefits of genocidal papal bull-based land theft than to go away, or at least take a long hiatus (and not in Canada!). There were plenty of days and weeks when I felt blocked and inspiration deficient, and when it came time for proofreading and editing, some serious flemme onset began when I realized that I was working with what must be the most glitchy word-processing program ever. Eventually though, it was over. While the publication of Raving Radicals represents the end of one process, it is also the beginning of another: that of 21st Century Proletarian Literature revitalization.

Raving Radicals Bathed in Blax will be fundamentally dissimilar to anything you have ever read before.

Raving Radicals is a satirical geopolitical thriller and a transmo proletarian novel. It is like an inverted Red Dawn; that’s why its working title was Red Twilight. I feel that there are two essential literary sources of inspiration behind Raving Radicals Bathed in Blax, though there may be others of secondary importance. One was Tzvetan Todorov’s Introduction à la littérature fantastiqueI was fascinated by the notion of the fantastique, which I believe captures the revolutionary spirit of these apparently “pre-revolutionary” times we live in more closely than either the merveilleux or l’étrange, because we constantly face the tension between feasibility and infeasibility. The revolutionary overhaul of society is a strange outcome-prediction in that it will seem inevitable, understandable by the common framework of understanding once it has become a past event, but proletarian literature must be fantastic–not strange–because Marxian science is by its nature flirtatious with impossiblity: bourgeois ideas rule, and are therefore socially imbued with feasibility, while proletarian and subaltern ideas are construed as infeasible, impossible. The second literary source which I would acknowledge as impactful upon the production of Raving Radicals Bathed in Blax was Marimba Ani’s Yurugu: An Afro-centric Critique of European Thought and Behavior and its insistence upon the consciousness-altering hormone. I also harnessed fantastic, strange, and marvelous bits and pieces of the histories of myself and my ancestors. I should also acknowledge and thank the members of Red Shadowthe economics rock ‘n’ roll band, who gave me permission to reproduce the lyrics to their song Get Your Ass with the Class in a scene in which the radical Santa Muerte-worshipping revolutionary protagonists play communist music like Red Shadow, Sun Rise Above, and 240 Bravo to de-program to captured agents of the Homeland Intelligence Agency.

The recent fire and mass casualty in Oakland, California comes as a timely and macabre reminder of the necessity of socialist revolution. It comes just over one year and one month after a similar fire in Bucharest which killed 64 persons, in a similar space.

Raving Radicals seemed to anticipate these tragedies in a way, because Raving Radicals begins with a group of young activists who go to a warehouse rave where a mass casualty incident occurs. Mass casualty incidents are tragically often the inciting incidents of our modern stories. In Raving Radicals, the partygoers are not killed by fire, but by a stampede triggered by a police raid. Because Raving Radicals is satirical, much of its action is over the top. However, given that the conditions of capitalism push people, especially young people, into precarious situations, we can consider that fires caused by bourgeois negligence are not unlike a stampede caused by maximum voltage taser-happy pigs.

But the fun doesn’t stop there. Soon enough physical copies of Raving Radicals Bathed in Blax will be available unto the masses. That’s right. The revised manuscript will include a number of improvements, such as improved scene breaks, illustrations, and an appendix with a glossary and maps.

In summary, now available are:

Chapter 46 “Back to Africa”. In this chapter, Tisha travels to the Uhuru Union, a pan-Africanist socialist state located in Sub-Saharan Africa, on behalf of the Socialist Rromani Republic of the Banat to establish diplomatic ties between the two emergent proletarian states.

Chapter 47 “The Pale Fox Strikes”. In this chapter, Wither slapte, Izzy, and Paty finally return to America, where Pedrocco’s dictatorship of the proletariat faces a number of problematic developments, including a bizarre atmospheric hologram menace.

Chapter 48 “Last Days of the Great and Powerful”. In this chapter, Wither slapte and Paloma discover the true source of the holographic menace, and the Radical Army prepares for a final epic assault on the last stronghold of the bourgeois mainframe. Meanwhile, the neo-Neanderthalist threat looms.

Chapter 49 La Santa Muerte’s Final Knell”. In this grand finale, our beloved radical communist gang face down the mad scientists of HVAARP and their army of privately contracted security goons. Expect the unexpected.

Five more chapters posted; Full “Instauration” is nigh

Yo, whaddup, all my RAVING RADICALS BATHED IN BLAX readers? Perhaps you’ve noticed; FIVE MORE CHAPTERS of everybody’s favorite 21st century proletarian novel have been made available over the last week or so. Keep counting down and ticking off those boxes on your RAVING RADICALS countdown sheet that you should already have put on your refrigerator; just FOUR MORE chapters to go.

In Chapter 41 “The Last Blizzard of the Long Hot Winter”, we delve further into the delightfully twisted world of Pedrocco’s Dictatorship of the Proletariat. Here the Army for Radicalism and Liberation must face down a new counterrevolutionary threat: the Young Patriots for a Stable Transition, a right-wing populist libertarian/anarcho-capitalist entity made up of trilby-sporting men’s rights activists.

In Chapter 42 “The Axis Trifecta Begins to Face Serious Setbacks”, we witness the deteriorating situation in Europe. Heinrich, La Plume, and Kiss are set on pacifying the PIGS (Portugal, Italy, Greece, and Spain), but weariness is setting in: America has fallen to the Marxians, and a Eurasian military alliance rumbles in the distance. Meanwhile, the Radical Book Club and their Cholo and Gypsy comrades conduct a focoistic armed struggle against the far right Habstalgic Hungarian ethnic separatists and state forces in the Banat.

In Chapter 43 “The Socialist Rromani Republic of the Banat”, readers will relish the establishment of a new workers’ state in Eastern Europe, led by O Gachupin, Zăbar, the Radical Book Club, and their Santa Muerte-worshipping cohorts.

In Chapter 44 “Further Developments in the Nascent Gyppo-Commie Republic”, we meet Balint, head of the new Gypsy spy agency who is hellbent on establishing diplomatic links with other emerging revolutionary left-wing-led governments: the Autonomous Peoples’ Commune of Mēxihco Tenōchtitlan, the Paris Commune, the Uhuru Union, the Caliphate of al-Kidissa al-Myetta, and the Radicalized and Liberated USA. Could the SRRB’s embassies in these far off lands serve as key infiltration points for the diffusion of proletarian empowerment?

In Chapter 45 “Disruptive Assault Research Projects Agency”, we learn that, sadly for our beloved radicals, all hope is not lost for the counterrevolutionary forces. Colonel Mitchel Aquilo has managed to escape to Alaska, leaving the contiguous United States just as it falls beneath the Marxian jackboot of Pedrocco, the Army for Radicalism and Liberation, and the violent Radical Book Club Disciples street gang. There a group of wealthy French and Walloon financiers, working in conjunction with a group of mad scientists belonging to an endogamous community descended from Nazi war criminals, have — under the guise of HVAARP, the High Velocity Active Astral Research Program — developed a heinous new weapons system, so powerful it could put a stop to this radical Santa Muerte shit once and for all.

RRBB: 38 chapters now available!

Yo, Raving Radicals Bathed in Blax readers! Maybe you didn’t notice it yet, but Part Four: “Instauration” has commenced! “Instauration” begins with Chapter 37 “Trans-Jugoslav Debauchery”. In this chapter, the Radical Book Club and their cohorts make their way to Europe in a bid to proselytize the Santa Muerte in the Balkans. Here an overview of the political situation in Europe is laid out, though further details will, naturally, come out in ensuing installments. In Sarajevo, the radicals learn via newspaper of an astonishing new development in America. This is followed by Chapter 38 “Pedrocco’s Dictatorship of the Proletariat”, which takes us back across the pond where Pedrocco has remained and united the anti-General Johnson forces into a potent new fighting force dubbed the “Army for Radicalism and Liberation”. As always, I encourage readers of Raving Radicals Bathed in Blax to relish these delectable chapters with obscene levels of jouissance and spread word unto their entourages of the fast approaching RRBB finale.

“Obscurantism and Liberation” draws to its climactic finish

Greetings socialist, communist, and left-liberal-progressive sistren, gender bendren, and brethren;

As you may well already be aware, the 21st century proletarian novel Raving Radicals Bathed in Blax contains four parts. With the recent posting of Chapter 36 “The Resistance Solidifies its Gains”, the third of those parts (“Obscurantism and Liberation”) is now available in full.

In “The Resistance Solidifies its Gains” we see the culmination of Part Three’s dual emphasis on both obscurantism and liberation. You’ll get a fresh look into the life of Officer Peabody, the cop who was granted paid leave after sustaining a serious knee injury in the line of duty in Part Two, and you’ll be introduced to an anarcho-primitivist group known as the neo-Neanderthals, whose mysterious leader’s intentions may be more sinister than meets the eye. But wait, there’s more: Pedrocco and the RBC Disciples street gang will be in on the action as well.

Enjoy, and prepare for Installment 37 . . . coming soon!

Now available for your reading pleasure: Chapters 34 & 35

Raving Radicals Bathed in Blax continues to break new ground, grappling with complex geopolitical issues and perpetually revelling in the subversion of the right-wing dominated political thriller genre.

In Chapter 34 “Nuclear Holocaust”, we witness what happens when the draconian and militaristic Johnson administration stoops to hyper-destructive methods in a desperate bid to maintain its grasp on power, enlisting the aid of Chancellor Ursala Heinrich.

In Chapter 35 “Pedrocco Returns”, one of the Radical Book Club’s most charismatic (and rash) members, fully recuperates from serious injuries sustained in his fight against neoliberal comprador corruption, defying ableism and meeting in the borderlands with a mysterious new force involved in what is now quite openly a second American civil war: the Radical Book Club Disciples, a left-wing vigilante street gang inspired by the rough and tumble prone ways of the ultra-left sect.

“Raving Radicals” pushes onward!

Greetings, readers of Raving Radicals Bathed in Blax. Rejoice, for two more installments to “Part Three: Obscurantism and Liberation” have recently been made available for your reading enjoyment and pleasure.

Expect the unexpected in Chapter 32 “Unexpected Betrayal”. Could someone really have the audacity to commit treason against the ever virtuous Radical Book Club and their Santa Muerte worshipping cohorts . . . or might this betrayal refer to someone within the Johnson regime’s Inner Cirle of H.I.A. agents? Read and find out!

In Chapter 33 we reach the long awaited “Assault on the School of the Americas”. You’ll also get to spend some more time with the militarist dictator you love to hate: the one, the only, General Johnson.

“The Globalized Future” has arrived! (rrbb continues)

Greetings, comrades. Get out your blankies and turn on your night lights, because “The Globalized Future” is a spooky campfire story told by Marita in the Lacandon jungle after the radical gang of Santa Muerte worshippers has just done battle against government forces alongside the Zapatista militants. It is the 31st installment of Raving Radicals Bathed in Blax.

Navigation scheme changes + 2 new RRBB chapters!

Yo, what up, blog reader?

Big announcement here: As you may have noticed, the navigation scheme for Raving Radicals Bathed in Blax has changed. Due to clutter issues and a problem with making an obscene quantity of menu items, I have done away with individual menu items for each chapter in RRBB.

The new navigation structure entails hovering your cursor over “Raving Radicals Bathed in Blax” on the upper part of the screen and clicking on the Part you would like to read from. You will then be directed to a Table of Contents for that Part with links to each chapter. When a new chapter becomes available, that chapter title will Look Like This. Additionally, there is now a “Raving Radicals Bathed in Blax” category (folder icon) which you can click on at the top of each posted chapter, allowing you to load all available chapters on one single page. Isn’t that clever? Aren’t I getting so good at this blogging shiz?!

In other news, two more chapter are now available, bringing Part Three: Obscurantism and Liberation to its halfway point.

In Chapter 29 “A Fortune-Telling Burlesque Becomes a Hotbed of Urban Guerrilla Activity”, we get new insight into the lives of Gabor and Fatiha, who have remained in America while the Radical Book Club and their cohorts carry out revolutionary acts in Mexico.

In Chapter 30 “Comandante Pedrocco Leads the Liberation Forces”, the Radical Book Club and their Santa Muerte-worshipping comrades join forces with the Zapatistas to fight the corrupt comprador bourgeoisie.
